J.Lynn Johnston's Blahg!

I love my life! You should too…

July 3, 2002 – Biloxi, Mississippi and Band Birthdays!

***Originally published as “J.Lynn’s Tour Diary” on Mad at Gravity’s Official Site.***

-Biloxi is hot. Biloxi is Africa hot. That was the first thing that
greeted me as I stepped out of our air-conditioned RV after rolling into
town: an oppressive, muggy wall of heat and humidity. Once we got used
to the full-time sauna effect, Biloxi turned out to be an interesting
stop on the Locobazooka tour. There was an indoor football arena
inside, but we had our stages set up outside under the trees. We’d all
been out the night before, losing money at the casinos on the waterfront
of the gulf. We were still tired from that, but as soon as the crowd
started to gather, so did our energy.

-The set went really well. I had to keep splashing myself with water to
keep cool, and I nearly slipped a couple times on all the onstage
puddles that resulted. Security was hosing down the crowd, too, so we
were all in the same sloppy state. The crowd responded really well,
especially seeing as our album doesn’t come out until July 16th. To see
kids singing along with songs that aren’t the radio single is really
cool. It means that they’ve put some serious effort into finding our
music and connecting with it beforehand… It’s those kids that make
every drop of sweat worth it…

-Also, it’s our birthday today!!! It was one year ago today that I met the guys and finalized the lineup of the band we would come to call Mad at Gravity! For such a young band, we’ve been incredibly fortunate thus far. Thanks for all the support, guys!

Love and perspiration,
