J.Lynn Johnston's Blahg!

I love my life! You should too…

July 9, 2002 – Washington, D.C. and the 9:30 Club

***Originally published as “J.Lynn’s Tour Diary” on Mad at Gravity’s Official Site.***

-We used our day off from the Locobazooka tour to play a show at the
legendary 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. We opened the show for
Sevendust, Nonpoint, and AudioVent. It went really well. After playing
so many shows in the blazing midday sunshine, it was refreshing to play
inside later at night. The first benefit is the fact that I got to
sleep in. It’s so much better to sing at night, especially after
sleeping till noon. The second benefit is that we have the advantage of
a full lighting rig. It just makes the show look so much more professional.

-The club’s doors opened at 6:30 to let in the throng, and everyone
headed straight for the front of the stage. And they stayed there! You
never see that in California! California crowds hang in the back by the
bar with their arms folded, just waiting for you to impress them and
their cynical friends. D.C. does it right! It was so great to have an
enthusiastic crowd hanging over the barricade. For obvious reasons, I suppose…

Love and blatant pleasures,
